Even after you move on to other places, you can still see how your choices affected their lives. Prongle is their social network, which is used for keeping in touch with other characters in the game. Given that Joey is from the 90s, this can basically be considered her discovering the modern internet. Various troll websites show up at some point in the game.
Joey apparently disguises herself to look troll-ish at times. The total number of characters in Hiveswap is over 100, though they designed more than twice that many troll symbols for the game as backup. Multiple characters are playable - Joey and Jude before the swap, Joey and Xefros afterwards, with others showing up in later acts. Release dates will be announced only once it's known they can be met. Hiveswap switched to the 2D style in late 2015 for the purpose of making it easier to develop, although IMO it's much better suited to the game anyway. Jude, her younger brother, is into aliens and conspiracy theories, and has a flock of carrier pigeons known as The Lone Gunbirds which he uses to send items from the treehouse to the manor. Joey fights using a flashlight and is a into ballet, veterinary stuff, and 90s movies/games/cartoons. Details of the second game are of course sparse, but we can assume the blob monster things and suspicious hooded neighbours will have something to do with it. If not stopped, the countdown leads to an apocalypse after 11 days. Joey must join the rebels on a quest to outwit the Imperial forces and find a way to get her back home to Earth before an unstoppable doomsday weapon destroys both worlds." The Heiress in the time the game takes place is everyone's favourite meme queen Trizza Tethis, who wants the device for herself. Along the way, Joey gets "embroiled in their struggle against an oppressive regime led by the vain and ruthless teenage Heiress who decrees that everyone must laugh at her jokes, or suffer the consequences. While the ultimate goal is getting home again, there is far more to the story than that. Thus, neither story is a sequel to the other, rather they are two stories taking place in parallel.
Both Joey and Dammek have an ultimate goal of finding a portal to bring them back home again. Hauntswitch - the second game - features Dammek and Jude on Earth. Hiveswap is the story of Joey's adventures with Xefros in Alternia. Joey and Dammek both wind up switching places with each other at the same time. Dammek's interests besides the obvious (music) are still unknown, but Xefros is into "telekinesis, butling, and the Troll sport of Arena Stickball." Somehow, Dammek ends up activating a corresponding cherub portal thing in his garage, and gets sent to Earth. Their lusii are deer and sloth-based, respectively. Both are lowblooded trolls, and they have a garage band type thing which we may hear music from in the future. Jude stays behind, hiding in the treehouse instead.ĭammek Nolastnameyet and Xefros Tritoh are two best friends in Alternia.
When Joey is pursued by monsters from the nearby spooky mansion, she winds up finding a weird cheruby looking device left by Jude in the attic, which transports her to Alternia when activated. They live with their dog Tesseract in Harley Manor, in the town of Hauntswitch. Joey Claire and Jude Harley are the two children of Grandpa Harley and a woman which for now we can just call Mrs Claire. As usual for the genre, the story drives the game, and gameplay consists of puzzle solving. Both games are intended to require no knowledge of Homestuck to fully enjoy. If successful, the plan is to make a second four-episode game as well. This was what the Kickstarter was for and what backers will receive.
